Exploring the relationship between musical engagement, intelligence and academic achievement among students with different professional skills

We investigated the relationship between music engagement, academic success and intelligence in non-musical students (N = 136). Currently, there is a lack of understanding to extent which individual leisure interests extracurricular engagement influence different subject areas, as well fluid crystallized experience. Clarifying these questions we formed aim this study. To diagnose musical used approved psychometric techniques - Gold-MSI v1.0 “Active engagement” scale, Raven's test, Amthauer's test. checked assumptions that influences strength correlation determined by level on one hand, degree homogeneity areas other. The results study showed may play significant role predicting performance non-musicians development hypothesis being non-relevant behavioral activity relation general educational experience competence, contributes decrease link was confirmed. other partially confirmed, it found mediated factor, but mediation specific groups with professional skills.
